Overview
In addition to weight loss we have a full spectrum Family Medicine clinic at our Riverside office. We take care of adult medical problems, women’s health, and pediatrics. We accept most insurance. If you do not have insurance then our fee for service rates are reasonable.
Adult Medicine
Common problems we see include diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Coumadin management, heart and vascular disease, asthma, sexual dysfunction, gastritis, arthritis, STD screening, COPD, DMV and pre-employment physicals and many others.
Pediatrics
We do school and developmental physicals, cough and cold, vaccinations and sports physicals.
Women’s Health
PAP smears, birth control, simple gynecological issues, osteoporosis, pregnancy tests, and breast cancer screening.
Procedures
Skin procedures, vassectomy, joint and muscle injections, EKG, laceration repair, ear wax removal, newborn circumcisions, and fracture splinting.
We take great care to do our procedures as painlessly as possible. We stock special narrow gauge needles and use a special buffering solution with our anesthetic to remove the burn that is common with this medication.
Hospital Medicine
If you are hospitalized we are one of the few primary care clinics in town that can follow you while you are in the hospital. We admit to Riverside Community Hospital as well as Parkview Community Hospital and take care of simple hospital admissions all the way up to complex patients in the critical care unit.
Geriatrics
Common issues include dementia, long term care, advanced directives, depression, deconditioning, and advanced phase medical problems.
Dermatology
We can screen for skin cancer in our office. We have experience in dealing with basal and squamous cell carcinoma as well as melanoma. Biopsies as well as complete surgical excision of these lesions can often be accomplished in the office.
We also take care of other common dermatological conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, warts, infections, and many other problems.
Psychiatry
We commonly see and treat people with depression, anxiety, bipolar, insomnia and attention deficit disorder. Psychiatric medications are sometimes associated with weight gain. If this is an issue, we can adjust your medications to minimize this effect.
Vasectomy
Vasectomy is an in-office procedure for permanent sterility. We use the ‘no scalpel’ technique. On the day of the procedure, you will be given a mild sedative to help with anxiety. We use extra fine needles and a special pH balanced solution to lessen the discomfort of the anesthesia. We take the utmost care to assure your comfort. The vassectomy takes about an hour. Most of our patients sleep through the procedure.
Research Studies
Our office is associated with Integrated Research Group. We frequently participate in clinical trials involving new medications. Currently we are involved with research studies involving patients with:
